Commencing on the 17th January 2000, the works were largely concentrated around the Duke Street / Wood Street / Renshaw Street and associated works in the surrounding area covering 20 streets and squares in total.

The contract was undertaken in the heart of the commercial and social part of the City involving road closures and diversions to the the carriageway and footways in the vicinity of the works.

All materials used on this contract were high quality and high specification involving imported granite setts from Portugal, Hard Limestone Paving from France, granite Kerbs and paving from China and imported specialist marble trims from India.

All the works were co ordinated in terms of the overall work package with a series of client and contractor meetings that were undertaken during the daytime for the contractor liaison and at night for the commercial clients.

All works were managed by an on site team of Dowhigh personnel whom were dedicated to the contract from commencement until completion and final hand-over.

   

Dowhigh Limited dedicated gangs were utilised for the laying of materials including setts and specialist flag paving.

Plant and equipment for the works which were employed on the contract were all Dowhigh owned equipment and were co ordinated by the on site management team.

Liaison with other contractors and Statutory Undertakers were co-ordinated and programmed within our works to ensure that the project was undertaken in a smooth and efficient manner.

In an effort to assist the hand-over of works from the Architect to Liverpool City Council we employed an ex employee from the City Council’s design department to ease the transition in the hand-over process.
All works were ultimately handed over to the City Council and were opened to the Public for both carriageway and footway use.
